In light of the passing of Congressman Don Young,
our annual fishing event is canceled

For decades, U.S. Congressman Don Young hosted fundraising and awareness-raising events around the country, including our signature event - The Lu Young Children's Fund Fishing Invitational. This fun-filled annual event attracted both novice and seasoned fishermen, and raised money to help native Alaskan children lead healthier lives.

With the recent passing of  Congressman  Young, the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision not to host this annual fishing invitational event this August in Alaska.

We are grateful for the many memories and good times and more importantly, to the long lasting friendships that have developed as a result of this event.  Many thanks to everyone who has supported us throughout all the years. See memories from some of the previous year's events below.

Your support has allowed the Lu Young Children's Fund to provide much needed support to the youth of Alaska.  We wish everyone the best in the years to come.

If you have any questions or want additional information regarding the Fund, please contact Linda Harrigan.

2021: Back In The Bay!

Back on the beautiful waters of Resurrection Bay after a year off due to Covid, 90 brave fishermen and women caught 2,000 pounds -- a literal TON -- of salmon, halibut and rockfish in the 16th Annual Lu Young Children's Fund Fishing Invitational.

Congressman Don Young (AK-At Large-R) and his wife, Anne, hosted a bipartisan group of his fellow Members of Congress, friends and family to raise money for the benefit of Native Alaskan children and their families. The dedicated group had three days of fishing and fun off the coast of the beautiful town

of Seward, AK, that included helicopter rides

with majestic views of the Alaskan wilderness.
